Bacon Brown Sugar Garlic Shrimp

Bacon Brown Sugar Garlic Shrimp combines crispy cooked bacon in its rendered fat with shrimp coated in garlic and seasonings, then finished in a sweet brown sugar glaze. The dish balances salty bacon, savory garlic shrimp, and a touch of sweetness, offering a tender and caramelized bite that can serve as a flavorful appetizer or main course.

Description

This recipe begins by cooking bacon until crisp yet chewy in a heavy skillet, reserving a few tablespoons of bacon fat for flavor. Seasoned shrimp with salt and pepper are briefly cooked in the bacon fat, developing a lightly seared exterior. Removing shrimp temporarily allows the addition of minced garlic to the hot pan, quickly sautéed before adding water and brown sugar to create a glaze.

Once the glaze is boiling, shrimp are returned to the pan to coat thoroughly, allowing the brown sugar to caramelize gently on the surface. The cooked bacon pieces are sprinkled over the shrimp just before serving along with optional parsley for brightness.

The result is shrimp with a rich, sweet-savory coating paired with smoky bacon, the garlic adding depth and aromatic subtlety. The dish requires attentive cooking to avoid overcooked shrimp and to achieve a sticky glaze.
