Bacon Brown Sugar Smokies

Bacon Brown Sugar Smokies feature mini sausages wrapped in bacon, coated with packed brown sugar, and baked until the bacon crisps and the sugar caramelizes. The result is a sweet and savory appetizer with a crispy, sticky exterior.

Description

This recipe uses small beef smokies wrapped individually in halved bacon strips, which are then rolled in packed brown sugar ensuring a sweet crust. The bacon end is secured with a toothpick to maintain its shape during baking. Baking on a foil-lined sheet at 350 degrees allows the bacon to cook evenly and crisp up while the brown sugar melts and caramelizes, creating a glossy coating over the bacon and smokie.

The treats develop a combination of smoky meat flavor, crispy bacon texture, and rich sweetness from the brown sugar. They are arranged with enough space to avoid steaming and ensure thorough browning. The baking time of about 18-20 minutes produces a bubbly sugar glaze and crisp bacon that holds well as finger food.

  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the bacon is crisp and the brown sugar is all bubbly.
