Bacon Cheeseburger Soup
Description
Bacon Cheeseburger Soup starts by browning ground beef and setting it aside. Potatoes and onions cook in butter before flour is added to make a roux for thickening. Chicken broth and milk simmer together with seasonings until the potatoes are soft, creating a creamy base. Melted cheddar cheese and sour cream enrich the mixture for smoothness and tang. Before serving, cooked beef and seeded tomatoes add substance and freshness.
Bowls are garnished with shredded lettuce, crumbled bacon, and crispy croutons made from hot dog buns, adding both crunch and additional burger flavors. This hearty soup recalls the classic cheeseburger experience in a spoonable form.
The soup can be kept warm in a slow cooker for gathering occasions, allowing guests to customize their servings. Condensed cheddar soup can substitute for the homemade base in a pinch, omitting additional cheese, broth, and milk as appropriate.
