Bacon Cheeseburger Stuffed French Bread
Description
The Bacon Cheeseburger Stuffed French Bread starts by browning ground beef with finely chopped onions and adding crisp bacon pieces. The mix is simmered with tomato soup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and several seasonings to develop a sweet, savory sauce. Meanwhile, a 1-pound loaf of French bread is sliced to remove most of the interior, leaving a thick shell.
The bread shell is lightly toasted after buttering the cut top slice, then filled with the warm meat mixture and layered with thick cheddar slices. Baking at 350ºF melts the cheese and heats the filling through. The buttered top piece is replaced, creating a sandwich-style loaf that can be sliced into large or smaller pieces ideal for sandwiches or appetizers.
Additional toppings such as lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, pickles, and sautéed vegetables can be added after baking for extra texture and flavor. This dish is suitable for casual meals, gatherings, or parties where guests can enjoy bacon cheeseburger flavors in sliceable bread form.
