Bacon Wrapped Figs
Description
This recipe wraps each fig, typically dried but optionally fresh, with a half-strip of pepper bacon and secures it with a toothpick. They are baked at high heat until the bacon crisps, offering a smoky and slightly spicy exterior with a soft, sweet fig center. The figs provide natural sweetness that balances the savory bacon.
The combination creates a bite-sized treat with a mix of chewiness from the fig and crispness from the bacon. Serving these warm alongside a maple syrup dipping option adds a layer of sweetness that complements the bacon's saltiness.
This appetizer works well as finger food at gatherings or as a simple savory snack. The recipe's note mentions the option to use fresh figs when in season, which can alter the texture slightly but maintains the overall concept.
