Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Description
The shrimp are first tossed with olive oil and a blend of paprika, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, adding savory and mildly smoky flavors. Wrapping each shrimp with thin-cut bacon secured by a toothpick ensures even cooking and combines the shrimp's sweetness with bacon's saltiness.
Baking at 425°F crisps the bacon while cooking the shrimp through without drying. Flipping halfway promotes even crispness. The lemon wedges served alongside provide a fresh citrus contrast to the rich flavors.
This recipe advises against using thick-cut bacon, which requires longer cooking and is harder to wrap. Leftover bacon-wrapped shrimp can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to three days.
Ingredients
- 24 Shrimp peeled and deveined, tail-on, large
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 lices Bacon cut in half
- lemon optional, wedges for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Place the cut bacon slices on a wire rack on top of a foil lined baking sheet. Then bake for 10 minutes. Transfer them to a plate lined with a paper towel to cool. Keep the oven on.
- Add the shrimp, olive oil and seasonings to a mixing bowl. Toss to coat the shrimp.
- Wrap each piece of the shrimp with a piece of the bacon securing the bacon to the shrimp with a toothpick. Continue until all the shrimp is wrapped with bacon.
- Place the bacon wrapped shrimp on a baking sheet lined with foil and bake for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cook time, until the shrimp are pink and bacon is crispy.
- Remove from the oven. Let sit for 5 minutes. Then they are ready to serve with the lemon wedges and enjoy!
Notes
- Use thin-cut bacon for easier wrapping and optimal cooking time.
- Store leftover bacon wrapped shrimp in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
