Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp combines jumbo peeled shrimp wrapped in bacon strips and marinated briefly in a sauce made of barbecue sauce, soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, garlic, sesame oil, and ginger. Broiling crisps the bacon while cooking the shrimp through. Served with reserved sauce and suggested guacamole, this dish offers a balance of smoky, sweet, and savory flavors.

Description

The recipe starts by marinating peeled, deveined jumbo shrimp with a flavorful mix including barbecue sauce, low-sodium soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, minced garlic, sesame oil, and minced ginger. The marinade seasons the shrimp briefly, enhancing their savory profile with hints of sweetness and citrus.

Bacon strips are halved lengthwise and each piece is tightly wrapped around a shrimp. The bacon-wrapped shrimp are broiled on a lined tray near the top of the oven at medium-high heat. The broil cooks shrimp and crisps the bacon in about ten minutes, with a flip halfway through for even cooking. The result is a combination of tender shrimp enveloped by crisp, smoky bacon.

The dish is served with the reserved portion of marinade sauce adding extra flavor and moisture. An accompaniment of guacamole is suggested, introducing creamy richness and fresh contrast to the savory, slightly sweet bacon shrimp bites. This preparation makes an appealing appetizer or main course with layered profiles of textures and tastes.

Broiling can be done under grill settings, and ensuring the shrimp are cooked yet not overdone preserves tenderness. Marinating even for 10 minutes allows absorption of the marinade flavors without softening shrimp excessively. Bacon slice halving facilitates wrapping without excess thickness.
