Baileys Espresso Martini

The Baileys Espresso Martini mixes vodka with Irish cream and freshly brewed espresso, shaken with ice to achieve a chilled cocktail topped by a delicate foam layer. Garnished with three coffee beans, the drink offers a smooth balance of creamy sweetness and bold coffee flavor, making it a distinctive choice for an after-dinner or celebratory cocktail.

Description

Baileys Espresso Martini combines vodka, Baileys Original Irish Cream (or a similar Irish cream), and fresh espresso in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Vigorously shaking the ingredients chills the drink and creates a foam atop the liquid, enhancing the texture. Straining into a martini glass and garnishing with three coffee beans adds a traditional garnish associated with espresso martinis.

The cocktail features the creaminess and sweetness of Irish cream alongside the robust bitterness of espresso, balanced by the neutral spirit of vodka. The careful shaking process achieves a smooth, frothy surface that adds to the experience of sipping this cocktail.

Serving chilled in a martini glass highlights the cocktail’s elegance and tonal contrasts, suitable for social occasions or as a nighttime coffee-flavored drink. Adjusting the espresso to decaf allows for caffeine-free variations without notably altering the flavor profile.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 oz vodka any brand
  • 1.5 oz Baileys Original Irish Cream or any Irish cream
  • 1 oz espresso freshly brewed is my favorite
  • ½ - 1 cups ice for shaking only
  • coffee beans garnish, 3 beans

Instructions

  1. Add the vodka, Baileys Irish cream, and espresso to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and vigorously shake until well-chilled and a foam layer is formed. I used this to measure the ingredients.
  2. Strain into a martini glass. You can chill the glass if desired.
  3. Garnish with 3 coffee beans. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Any Irish cream can be used, with Baileys Original or their espresso creme flavor commonly preferred; brands like Kerrygold, Coole Swan, or Saint Brendan’s are also options.
  • Decaf espresso or coffee can substitute for a caffeine-free version.
  • If no cocktail shaker is available, a sealable mason jar or water bottle filled with ice works to shake the ingredients.
  • Use freshly brewed espresso rather than instant coffee for authentic flavor.
