Baked BBQ Chicken Breast
Description
This recipe for Baked BBQ Chicken Breast uses four large chicken breasts coated in a spice mixture including smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and white pepper, all combined with avocado oil. The chicken is coated thoroughly with these spices in a bag, allowing even coverage before baking.
The chicken is baked at 375°F in a greased casserole dish, brushed twice with a cup of BBQ sauce to build layers of flavor. The baking process is monitored until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, indicating safe and juicy doneness. The smoked paprika adds a deep smoky note complementing the BBQ sauce.
After baking, the chicken is sliced and served warm with the remaining BBQ sauce, suitable for pairing with sides like vegetables, rice, or salads. Using similarly sized chicken breasts helps ensure even cooking.
Avocado oil can be substituted with canola, olive, or grapeseed oil, while regular paprika and black pepper may replace smoked paprika and white pepper as needed. Opting for low-sugar BBQ sauce can reduce sweetness. Leftovers store for up to four days in the fridge and reheat well in the microwave or on the stove.
