Baked BBQ Chicken Wings

Report
Baked BBQ Chicken Wings are coated in a spiced mix including garlic powder, onion granules, paprika, and baking powder, then baked twice for extra crispiness. Tossed in homemade barbecue sauce and baked again, these wings develop a sticky, flavorful coating with crispy skin. The method balances a tender interior with a crispy exterior, suitable for casual meals or appetizers.

Description

This recipe starts by coating 15 chicken wings in olive oil mixed with garlic powder, onion granules, paprika, baking powder, salt, and pepper. The baking powder helps dry the skin for a crispier texture when baked. Wings are baked for 20 minutes on a lined sheet, then tossed with homemade barbecue sauce before returning to the oven to finish cooking and develop a sticky glaze.

The double bake ensures wings have crispy skin beneath the sauce’s rich, tangy layer. Spices in the rub contribute savory depth while allowing the barbecue sauce's flavor to shine.

The finished wings can be served as finger food for gatherings or as part of a main course. A complementary dipping sauce like ranch enhances the experience. Adjusting the rub or sauce allows for variety, including substituting buffalo sauce for a spicier finish.

Adding a bit of flour to the rub can further enhance crispiness. Baking powder is key to drying the skin during cooking without frying.
