Baked Brie

Baked Brie is a warm, soft cheese appetizer featuring a wheel of Brie heated until gooey. The baking process softens the cheese to either a melty or slightly softened consistency depending on timing. It is often topped with honey and fresh thyme, adding a touch of sweetness and herbal aroma that complements the creamy texture of the Brie. This preparation is ideal for sharing and serving immediately as an elegant yet simple starter or snack.

Description

Baked Brie highlights a whole Brie cheese wheel baked at 350°F. The cheese is unwrapped and placed on parchment paper on a baking sheet, then heated in the oven between 10 to 20 minutes based on desired softness. Shorter bake times maintain some firmness while longer times create a runny center. Upon removal, a drizzle of honey and fresh thyme can be added to impart gentle sweetness and herbal notes that pair well with the mild creaminess of Brie. The cheese is transferred with the parchment to a serving dish and enjoyed warm to appreciate the soft, rich interior. This simple baking method enhances the texture and allows the Brie’s flavor to come through without additional complex preparation.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 Brie cheese wheel about 4-4.5 inch
  • honey
  • thyme fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Unwrap your Brie and place your wheel on a small piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Note: if you have the time, take the cheese out of the refrigerator and let it sit on the counter for an hour before baking. This is optional but helps the cheese bake more evenly.
  3. Bake for 10-20 minutes in the oven. 20 minutes should make the Brie very soft and runny in the center, while 10 minutes will make a softened but not super melty Brie.
  4. Remove from the oven, and use the parchment paper to transfer the Brie to your serving dish. Serve asap with your desired topping. I added a drizzle of honey and fresh thyme.
