Baked Brie

Baked Brie wrapped in puff pastry is topped with cinnamon-spiced pecans and brown sugar for a sweet and nutty contrast to the creamy cheese inside. The pastry bakes golden and flaky, encasing the soft Brie wheel. This appetizer balances buttery, sweet, and savory elements and is served warm with crackers and sliced fruit, making it a versatile option for entertaining.

Description

This Baked Brie recipe involves wrapping an entire Brie wheel in thawed puff pastry topped with pecans sautéed in butter and cinnamon, then sprinkled with brown sugar. The pecans gain a toasted, spiced flavor from brief cooking in butter before being layered atop the cheese. Once enclosed in the pastry and brushed with beaten egg, the Brie is baked until the pastry achieves a golden brown, crisp texture.

Inside, the Brie softens and becomes creamy as it warms, contrasting with the flaky pastry and the crunchy, sweet-spiced pecans on top. The combination of the buttery puff pastry and the nutty, cinnamon flavor enhances the mild richness of the cheese.

This baked Brie pairs well with crackers and fresh fruit such as apple slices or strawberries, making it suitable as a shareable appetizer or party dish. The warm cheese can be spread easily and complemented by the sweetness from the topping and the texture of the pastry.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 puff pastry pre-packaged - usually they come two in a pack, sheet, frozen
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 /2 cup pecans coarsely chopped
  • 1/8 /8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (8-14 ounce) Brie cheese wheel
  • 1/4 /4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg beaten
  • crackers sliced, for serving
  • apple sliced, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Defrost puff pastry for approximately 15 to 20 minutes by laying it out at room temperature. Once it has defrosted, unfold it.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Saute the pecans in the butter until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes. Add the cinnamon and stir until pecans are coated well.
  3. Place the pecan mixture on top of the Brie and sprinkle the brown sugar over the mixture. Lay the puff pastry out on a flat surface. Place the brie in the center of the pastry. Gather up the edges of the puff pastry, pressing around the brie and gather at the top. Fold and pinch the edges together so it doesn’t come open. Brush the beaten egg over top and side of Brie.
  4. Place Brie on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes until pastry is golden brown.
  5. Serve with crackers and fruit like sliced apples and strawberries.
