Baked Chicken Tenders with Honey Sriracha
Description
The chicken tenders are first mixed thoroughly with a honey and sriracha sauce combined with minced garlic. This sauce adheres to each piece before they are evenly coated with seasoned panko breadcrumbs, which provide extra crunch. Using panko rather than regular breadcrumbs ensures a lighter, crisper coating.
Baking the coated tenders on a wire rack over a baking sheet prevents sogginess from dripping moisture, encouraging a crisp texture all around. The oven temperature of 400°F cooks the tenders within about 15 to 20 minutes until the exterior is golden and the chicken is cooked through.
This method offers a less oily alternative to frying without sacrificing the desired crispness and flavor combination of sweet honey and spicy sriracha. The garlic adds a mild pungency enhancing the overall flavor.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup sriracha
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs seasoned
- 1 package about 1 pound uncooked boneless, skinless chicken tenders
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Place a baking rack over a sheet pan and spray with cooking spray.
- In a small bowl mix together the Sriracha, honey, and minced garlic.
- In a flat bottomed bowl (or you could use a zip-topped plastic bag instead) pour the panko bread crumbs. (Be sure to use Panko breadcrumbs because that makes the chicken much more crispy.)
- Dip each chicken tender into the bowl with the honey Sriracha sauce and be sure it is fully coated.
- Then roll each chicken tender into the panko bread crumbs until evenly coated.
- Place each chicken tender on the baking rack. Then place in a preheated oven.
- Bake the chicken tenders for about 15 - 20 minutes.
