Baked Cream of Mushroom Pork Chops

Baked Cream of Mushroom Pork Chops feature pork chops browned in butter and baked in a creamy sauce made from condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, sautéed onions, and garlic. This preparation creates tender pork chops with a mild, savory mushroom flavor complemented by the sweetness of cooked onions and a hint of garlic. The gentle baking at 350°F ensures the pork chops remain moist and juicy without overcooking. This dish works well as a comforting main served alongside vegetables or mashed potatoes.

Description

Baked Cream of Mushroom Pork Chops combine pan-seared pork chops with a rich, creamy mushroom sauce. The recipe starts with seasoning pork chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before browning them in butter to develop a light crust. Onions are sautéed in the same pan until translucent and tender, then garlic is added for a fragrant boost. A mixture of milk, condensed cream of mushroom soup, and dried parsley is whisked together and poured over the chops before baking. Baking at 350°F for 20-25 minutes allows the pork to reach a safe internal temperature of 145°F, resulting in tender chops infused with the creamy mushroom sauce. The use of sautéed onions adds texture and sweetness to the dish, enhancing the overall richness.

The dish suits home dinners where a hearty, creamy pork entrée is desired. It can be paired with simple sides like rice, potatoes, or steamed vegetables. Adjusting the amount of onions can give a more substantial presence if preferred, and seasoning with extra garlic or onion powder can be added cautiously for stronger flavor.

To retain tenderness, avoid overcooking pork chops as they are safe and more palatable at 145°F. Using salted butter adds a mild seasoning during sautéing. This recipe balances creaminess and savoriness without requiring long cooking times.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3-4 pork chops 1 inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter salted
  • 1 cup onion chopped ( see notes, white
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • one .75 ounces can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon parsley dried

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 °F.
  2. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on each side. Sprinkle lightly with garlic powder.
  3. Melt the butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Sauté the pork chops in the butter for 3-4 minutes per side until lightly browned on both sides. Remove to a clean plate.
  4. Add the onions and fry until tender and translucent. Add the garlic and sauté until browned and fragrant.
  5. Combine the milk, soup, and parlsey in a glass measuring cup, whisking until smooth. Pour the soup mixture over the chops.
  6. Bake at 350℉ for 20-25 minutes, until the pork reaches at least 145 °F in the middle. Remove and serve.

Notes

  • You can increase the amount of onions to make the dish more substantial—up to 3 or 4 medium onions for added texture and sweetness.
  • Cook pork chops to an internal temperature of 145°F for optimal tenderness and juiciness.
  • Optionally, add up to 1/2 teaspoon garlic and onion powder to boost flavor.
