Baked French Fries (Oven Fries)
Description
This recipe uses large baking potatoes cut into fries with skin on or peeled depending on preference. Soaking the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes draws out starch, reducing stickiness and improving crispness.
After drying the potatoes thoroughly, they're tossed with olive oil and seasoned salt or lemon pepper. Baking starts at 375°F to cook the fries through, then the temperature is increased to 425°F to brown and crisp the exterior. This two-step baking method balances tenderness and crunch without frying.
Baked French Fries provide a healthier alternative to deep-fried versions while maintaining appealing texture and flavor. They can be served as a side for burgers, sandwiches, or as a snack with dipping sauces.
