Baked Kale Chips

Baked Kale Chips offer a crispy, lightly salted snack made by roasting fresh kale tossed in olive oil at a moderate temperature. The chips have a crunchy texture that comes from careful drying and baking, providing a healthier alternative to traditional chips.

Description

This recipe uses fresh kale leaves with ribs removed, cut into bite-sized pieces and washed thoroughly. After drying the kale completely, it is tossed with olive oil and spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet. The kale is baked at 325°F for about 10-12 minutes, turning halfway to ensure even crisping without burning. A sprinkle of sea salt finishes the chips once out of the oven.

The results are light, fragile chips with a tender, crisp bite and a mild olive oil flavor complemented by the salt. These chips make a nutritious snack with the rich nutrient profile of kale while delivering satisfying texture similar to potato chips.

Leftover kale chips can be stored in an airtight container but will lose crispness after a day or so at room temperature. Refrigeration extends freshness but may soften the texture. Best eaten soon after baking for maximum crunch.
