Baked King Crab Recipe

The Baked King Crab Recipe features king crab legs baked and topped with a butter mixture flavored with sriracha, lemon juice, sugar, and smoked paprika. This method brings a balance of heat, citrus, and smoky sweetness to the rich crab meat, making for a flavorful seafood dish served warm.

Description

This recipe calls for cutting king crab legs to expose the meat before baking at 400°F for 20 minutes, covered with foil to retain moisture. The baking gently heats the crab, making it tender and ready to absorb the flavored butter.

The butter is whipped with sriracha for heat, lemon juice for brightness, sugar to temper acidity, and smoked paprika for smokiness. Once the crab comes out of the oven, the spiced butter is spooned over the meat, and extra paprika and fresh chopped parsley or chives garnish the dish, adding color and herbaceous notes.

The resulting dish combines the natural sweetness of king crab with a layered flavor profile, suitable as a main seafood course or as an appetizer, served immediately to enjoy the warm crab meat and rich butter sauce.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 lbs (1kg) king crab legs
  • 1 tick butter room temperature and softened, unsalted
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 dashes smoked paprika and more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon parsley and/or chives, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (207°C). Cut the king crab legs into shorter segments using scissors. Then, cut the segments lengthwise to expose the crab meat. Alternatively, you can cut the top part of the shell to reveal the crab meat. Arrange the king crab legs on a baking tray and bake for 20 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil to prevent the crab from drying out.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the Sriracha Lemon Butter by whipping the softened butter with a whisk. Add the Sriracha, lemon juice, and sugar, and whisk until well combined. Set aside.
  3. As soon as the crab is out of the oven, spoon the butter over the crab meat. Sprinkle with additional smoked paprika and garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately.
