Baked Macaroni- Filipino Style

Baked Macaroni Filipino Style combines elbow macaroni with ground beef, hotdog slices, and a sweet-style spaghetti sauce. The macaroni cooks in the sauce until nearly al dente before baking. A cheese sauce made from butter, flour, milk, and processed cheese is prepared separately and typically poured over or layered in the casserole. The dish uses common pantry ingredients and balances savory and sweet flavors, making for a hearty and comforting baked pasta dish.

Description

Baked Macaroni Filipino Style starts with sautéing hotdog slices, garlic, onion, red bell pepper, and ground beef, creating a flavorful meat base. Uncooked elbow macaroni is added to the pan with sweet-style spaghetti sauce, water, salt, and pepper, then cooked briefly until the pasta is almost tender. Separately, a smooth cheese sauce is prepared by making a roux with butter and flour, then whisking in milk and processed cheese until melted and lump-free. The macaroni mixture and cheese sauce are combined or layered before baking, resulting in a creamy, cheesy pasta bake with a balance of meaty and sweet flavors from the hotdogs and sauce. This dish suits family meals and leftover enjoyment.
