Baked Monte Cristo Party Sliders
Description
Baked Monte Cristo Party Sliders start by slicing savory or sweet rolls horizontally and assembling layers of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese on the bottom halves arranged side by side in a baking pan. The tops go on before a glaze mixture of melted butter, egg, and Dijon mustard is poured over, helping meld the flavors and add richness during baking. Covered loosely with foil, the sliders bake first to heat through, then uncovered to brown the tops.
After baking, powdered sugar is sprinkled on top and raspberry preserves are served alongside, offering a sweet contrast to the salty meats and cheese. This combination creates a balanced fusion of savory and sweet with tender bread and melted cheese.
The recipe notes suggest King’s Hawaiian rolls for convenient slicing and extra flavor from either sweet or savory varieties. The sliders are suitable for parties or easy shared meals.
Ingredients
- 12 savory roll see note, or sweet roll
- 12 lices ham deli
- 12 lices turkey deli style
- 12 lices swiss cheese
- ½ cup butter (8 tablespoons), melted
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1-2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- raspberry preserves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Slice rolls in half horizontally. Place bottom halves (side by side, touching) in your prepared baking pan. (slide them all the way to one end, there will probably be some extra space on one side of the pan which is okay)
- Distribute ham over the bottom half of the rolls. Next layer the turkey, then swiss cheese. Top with the top halves of the rolls.
- In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg, and dijon mustard. Pour mixture over rolls. Cover loosely with foil (tent the foil so that it does not touch the tops of the rolls) and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10-15 minutes longer.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with raspberry preserves.
Notes
- King’s Hawaiian rolls are recommended for easy slicing and flavor; attached rolls allow slicing all at once.
- Use melted butter mixed with egg and Dijon mustard to coat rolls before baking for moisture and tang.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar after baking and serve with raspberry preserves for a classic sweet-savory contrast.
