Baked Oatmeal
Description
Baked Oatmeal blends quick-cooking oats with eggs, milk, and melted butter, which bind together with brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt before baking in a greased pan. The baking produces a firm yet tender dish with a soft crumb and the warm spice of cinnamon.
The recipe allows for adjustment in sweetness by increasing brown sugar if desired. The oatmeal can be served warm, providing a filling option for breakfast that’s distinct from stovetop oatmeal due to its baked texture.
Different types of milk may be used, including skim, whole, and non-dairy alternatives like almond milk, allowing flexibility for dietary preferences. The oats and baking powder contribute to a light rise and tender crumb. This baked format makes it easy to prepare in advance for varied occasions.
