Baked Pork Chops

Baked pork chops are first seared in olive oil to develop a browned crust, then baked in a buttery garlic sauce enhanced with brown sugar and Italian seasoning. This combination creates a tender pork chop with a balance of savory, sweet, and herby flavors. Fresh parsley and optional lemon wedges add brightness when serving.

Description

Baked Pork Chops begin by seasoning bone-in pork chops with salt and pepper, then pan-searing them in olive oil over medium-high heat to form a golden-brown crust. After searing, the pork chops are briefly removed while a sauce made of butter, minced garlic, brown sugar, and Italian seasoning is cooked in the same pan. The chops are returned to the pan, coated with the sauce, and baked at 400°F until cooked through to an internal temperature of 145°F.

The buttery sauce with garlic and brown sugar provides a subtle sweetness and savory depth balanced by the herbal notes from Italian seasoning. Fresh chopped parsley is sprinkled over the finished dish, and lemon wedges can be served alongside to add a fresh citrus element if desired.

This method produces tender, flavorful pork chops with a nicely caramelized exterior. It suits a main course served with sides such as roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes.

If Italian seasoning is unavailable, a blend of dried oregano, basil, and thyme works as a substitute without altering the intended flavor profile significantly.
