Baked Potato
Description
This Baked Potato recipe focuses on using large russet potatoes known for their starchy, dry texture ideal for fluffiness when baked. The potatoes are washed, dried, and pierced multiple times with a fork to release steam during baking, preventing bursting.
Coating the potatoes in olive oil adds flavor and promotes crisp, flavorful skin. The applied salt and black pepper further season the skins and draw out moisture for improved crispness. Baking at 425°F for about 45 minutes, though timing varies by potato size, ensures a tender interior.
The baked potatoes can be served with common toppings such as butter, cheese, chives, or sour cream according to taste. The high-temperature method produces a crispy skin contrasting the soft potato flesh inside.
Tips include choosing large russets for optimal texture, properly pricking holes, and applying oil and salt for the characteristic crispy skin. The recipe serves four potatoes, with longer baking times needed for larger quantities.
