Baked Salmon with a Lemon Mayo Glaze
Description
This recipe uses fresh salmon seasoned evenly with a simple spice mix including salt, sugar, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. A thin layer of mayonnaise is spread atop the fillets, just enough to add moisture without overpowering the fish. Thin lemon slices are placed on top to infuse a bright citrus aroma during baking.
The salmon is baked covered at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes to gently cook the fish, then the foil is removed and it is broiled briefly to develop a golden, slightly crisp surface on the mayo glaze. This method retains the fish’s tender texture while adding a savory and tangy glaze crust. The use of a low, covered bake followed by broiling prevents drying out.
Serving this salmon can be simple with lemon wedges or alongside steamed vegetables or a light salad. The mild seasoning makes it versatile enough to pair with a range of side dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs salmon fresh
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp sugar
- 1/8 tsp black pepper ground
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp paprika
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 lemon sliced
Instructions
- How to Make the Best Oven Roasted Salmon:
- Preheat the Oven to 350˚F for 20 min. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a small ramekin, combine 1/2 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp sugar, 1/8 tsp black pepper, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, 1/8 tsp paprika and mix. Sprinkle the top of your salmon evenly with your seasoning mix.
- Spread with a thin layer of mayo. It really just needs a little. Don't slather it on. A little goes a long way with Mayo. Top with slices of lemon. Cover with foil and bake at 350˚F for 20 min. Remove foil and broil a 3 minutes or so to get a nice golden crust on the top.
