Baked Sweet Potato Cubes with Butter and Bourbon
Description
The recipe begins by cubing sweet potatoes and tossing them with a warm mixture of unsalted melted butter and bourbon, which imparts a slight sweetness and depth. The potatoes are then seasoned with fresh or dried thyme, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper for herbal and savory notes.
They are spread evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment or a nonstick mat and baked at 350°F to cook through and soften. Finishing under the broiler for 5 to 10 minutes encourages browning and slight crispness on the edges, balancing the tender inside while enhancing flavor through caramelization.
This preparation is suitable as a side dish complementing various mains, bringing a mix of sweet, buttery, and herbal flavors with a hint of bourbon complexity. The dish is best served warm to maintain the rich butter coating and appealing texture contrast.
