Baked Tofu

This baked tofu recipe calls for firm tofu pressed to remove moisture, then marinated in a mix of soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili paste. The tofu is baked until lightly browned, resulting in cubes with a flavorful, slightly caramelized exterior. Toasted sesame seeds and green onions add garnish for texture and freshness. It's a flavorful dish suited as a main or addition to other meals.

Description

The recipe begins by pressing firm tofu to drain excess liquid, which helps the tofu absorb the marinade and achieve a better texture when baked. The marinade combines savory soy sauce with brown sugar for sweetness, rice vinegar for acidity, and aromatics including minced garlic, fresh ginger, and garlic chili paste for heat. After marinating at least 15 minutes, the tofu cubes are baked at 400°F on a foil- and parchment-lined baking sheet, flipping halfway to ensure even browning. The final dish features baked tofu with a tender center and a flavorful crust. Toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions are suggested garnishes to add nuttiness and brightness. This preparation provides a versatile option for a protein-rich dish that can be served on its own or incorporated into bowls, salads, or stir-fries.
