Baked Wild Salmon Patties
Description
Baked Wild Salmon Patties feature canned wild Alaska red salmon mixed with chopped cilantro, finely minced green onions, mild Thai curry paste, lemon zest, and egg to bind the mixture. The salmon may be prepared with or without bones, depending on preference. Formed into six uniform patties, they are lightly sprayed with a low-calorie spray and baked at 375°F (190°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until cooked through. This method avoids frying and provides a clean bake with balanced flavors from the herbs and curry paste.
The patty mixture offers a combination of tender salmon with fresh green onion bite and citrus brightness from lemon zest. The mild curry paste adds a gentle warmth without overpowering the natural fish taste. Baking allows for easy cooking with less fat than pan-frying and ensures even cooking when patties are sized evenly.
These salmon patties can be served as a light main dish or as appetizers if formed into smaller sizes. They pair well with fresh salads or simple sides like roasted vegetables. The inclusion of Thai curry paste allows for flavor customization, and seasoning swaps to Old Bay or fresh dill and thyme provide flexible variations.
To ensure even cooking, make all patties the same size. You can store leftovers refrigerated and reheat them gently to maintain texture. Adjust the seasoning to taste before baking if desired.
