Balsamic Glaze
Description
The Balsamic Glaze recipe combines one cup of balsamic vinegar with two tablespoons of brown sugar in a small saucepan. The mixture is simmered over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, reducing the volume while thickening enough to coat the back of a spoon. Cooling further thickens the glaze slightly, so it should be removed from heat before becoming too dense.
Once cooled, the glaze is transferred to a clean jar with a lid and stored at room temperature. Its syrupy texture and concentrated sweet-tart flavor make it an ideal finishing sauce or drizzle. Use this glaze to enhance the taste and appearance of salads, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or even desserts.
Ingredients
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
- Combine balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a small saucepan.
- Simmer over medium heat for 15-20 minutes or until the mixture is thickened and coats the back of a spoon.
- Cool completely and store at room temperature.
Notes
- Do not over-thicken the glaze on the stove as it continues to thicken while cooling.
- Store the balsamic glaze in a clean glass jar with a lid at room temperature for up to one year.
