Balsamic Glaze

Balsamic glaze is a simple reduction of balsamic vinegar and brown sugar simmered until thickened to a syrupy consistency. It adds sweet acidity and glossy texture to dishes. This glaze can be stored at room temperature in a sealed jar and used for up to a year, offering a versatile condiment for salads, meats, and vegetables.

Description

The Balsamic Glaze recipe combines one cup of balsamic vinegar with two tablespoons of brown sugar in a small saucepan. The mixture is simmered over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, reducing the volume while thickening enough to coat the back of a spoon. Cooling further thickens the glaze slightly, so it should be removed from heat before becoming too dense.

Once cooled, the glaze is transferred to a clean jar with a lid and stored at room temperature. Its syrupy texture and concentrated sweet-tart flavor make it an ideal finishing sauce or drizzle. Use this glaze to enhance the taste and appearance of salads, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or even desserts.
