Balsamic Reduction Sauce
Description
The Balsamic Reduction Sauce combines balsamic vinegar and brown sugar reduced by half over low heat, producing a dark, glossy syrup that thickens further upon cooling. The addition of fine sea salt offsets the sweetness and enhances the complex flavor profile of the vinegar. The sauce's consistency should coat the back of a spoon when set. This reduction method draws out the natural sweetness and acidity, making it a versatile finishing touch. It can be used sparingly to enrich dishes without overpowering other flavors.
The simple simmer-and-reduce technique means you don’t need special skills or equipment, just patience to allow it to thicken properly as it cools. The sauce pairs particularly well with fresh salads, grilled or roasted vegetables, cheeses, and meats, providing a balance of sweet, tangy, and salty notes.

- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- sea salt dash, fine
