Banana Margarita

Report
The Banana Margarita combines ripe banana with light margarita mix, tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice for a creamy, tangy cocktail served chilled. The drink is blended with ice to achieve a shaved-ice texture rather than being fully frozen, and the glass is rimmed with sugar or salt to complement the banana's sweetness depending on preference.

Description

This Banana Margarita recipe starts by blending ice until it reaches a shave-ice consistency, then pulsing it together with light margarita mix, half a banana, tequila, fresh lime juice, and triple sec. The mixture creates a creamy, tangy cocktail that balances the tropical banana flavor with the citrus and alcohol components.

The glass is rimmed with lime juice and then dipped in either salt or sugar, with sugar recommended to better match the banana's natural sweetness. The cocktail is served chilled but is not a true frozen margarita, as the ice partially melts during blending.

Serving the drink with additional ice in the glass can help maintain its cold temperature. This cocktail offers a distinctive alternative to a classic margarita, emphasizing a fruitier profile with a smooth texture.

The recipe notes that using sugar for the rim pairs better with banana, although salt is an option if preferred, and explains that the ice melts slightly in the blender, affecting the final texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 ox Margarita Mix light
  • ½ banana
  • 1 lime
  • 2 oz tequila I recommend 1800 Coconut
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1 cup ice
  • salt or sugar

  2. Then add light margarita mix, banana, tequila, lime juice and triple sec to a blender. Pulse together for 30-45 seconds.
  3. Use the leftover lime to rim the glass. Dip into salt or sugar.
  4. Pour margarita from the blender into rimmed glass and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add extra ice to the glass before pouring for a colder drink.
  • Using sugar for the glass rim complements the banana flavor better than salt, though salt is also acceptable.
