Banana Milk Coffee is a warm beverage blending ripe banana, milk, coffee, sugar, and cinnamon to create a smooth, lightly spiced drink. The banana is mashed and gently heated with sugar and milk to soften it and dissolve the sweetener. Blending ensures a creamy, lump-free texture that mixes into hot coffee for a subtly sweet and aromatic flavor combination.

Description

This recipe starts by mashing a very ripe banana with sugar and warming it gently with milk on low heat until smooth and warm. Cinnamon is stirred in to add a warm spice note. The banana milk mixture is then blended with the remaining milk until fully smooth to remove lumps, ideally using a high-power blender. The prepared banana milk is poured over hot, freshly brewed coffee to combine the flavors in a comforting beverage.

The use of an almost black ripe banana ensures natural sweetness and ease of blending. Cinnamon adds a subtle warmth that complements the banana and coffee notes. The resulting drink has a creamy texture with hints of fruit and spice, balanced by the strong coffee base.

Serving the drink immediately preserves its smooth texture and temperature. Using a sieve can help remove any remaining lumps if a high-power blender is unavailable. This coffee variation offers a unique approach to a latte-style drink with natural banana sweetness and spice.

  • ~6.7 fluid ounces (200ml) coffee freshly brewed, strong & hot
  • ~8.4 fluid ounces (250ml) milk I used semi skimmed
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 banana very ripe
  • 1 tsp cinnamon plus extra for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mash the banana in a bowl with the sugar until it's smooth with not many lumps. Add to a saucepan under a low heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved and the banana is hot. Gradually add in half of the milk until it starts to steam, remove from the heat and add in the cinnamon, stir.
  2. Add the banana milk to a blender and blend until completely smooth whilst gradually adding the other half of the milk. (A high power blender is best to ensure no lumps remain)
  3. Divide the hot coffee into two mugs and top with the banana milk (use a sieve when pouring the milk if you don't have a high power blender). Top with an extra dusting of cinnamon is desired.

Notes

  • Use a very ripe banana (nearly fully black) for natural sweetness and easier blending.
  • If lacking a high-power blender, strain the banana milk through a fine sieve to remove lumps before adding to coffee.
  • The beverage is best served immediately to enjoy the smooth texture and warmth.
