Banana Nut Bread Recipe
Description
Banana Nut Bread Recipe uses a combination of mashed ripe bananas and unsweetened applesauce to keep the loaf moist without excess oil. Light brown sugar and softened butter provide sweetness and richness, while the inclusion of just egg whites results in a lighter texture. The batter is mixed gently to retain some chunkiness and to avoid overworking gluten. Chopped walnuts give the bread added texture and a nutty flavor throughout. The bread is baked in two 8x5 inch loaf pans at 350°F for just under an hour until a toothpick comes out clean. Cooling the loaves before slicing helps them set properly.
This bread works well as a grab-and-go snack or a simple breakfast alongside coffee or tea. The nut and banana flavors balance sweetness but do not overpower. The included vanilla extract adds subtle aroma notes. Because the recipe makes two loaves, you can save one for later or share.
To make one loaf, simply halve the ingredient amounts. Letting the bread cool completely before slicing keeps crumbs minimal. This recipe uses common pantry ingredients and takes advantage of overripe bananas. The batter uses only the egg whites instead of whole eggs, slightly lowering fat and cholesterol.
