Bang Bang Shrimp Dip

Bang Bang Shrimp Dip combines steamed shrimp with a creamy, tangy sauce made from mayonnaise, thai chili sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar. The shrimp are chopped and mixed with crunchy panko bread crumbs and fresh green onion, resulting in a dip that balances sweetness, heat, and texture. Served chilled, this dip pairs well with crackers or cucumber slices for a flavorful appetizer or snack.

Description

Bang Bang Shrimp Dip starts with steaming shrimp until just cooked and tender, ensuring they retain moisture and subtle sweetness. Once cooled and chopped, the shrimp are stirred into a sauce combining mayo, sweet thai chili sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar, which offers a creamy base with both sweet and spicy notes. Adding panko breadcrumbs introduces a crisp texture contrast, while chopped green onions provide freshness and mild sharpness. The dip is served chilled, allowing flavors to meld and making it an appealing cold appetizer. It is ideal for serving with crackers or crisp cucumber slices for added crunch and coolness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 oz Shrimp any size will work, but I used extra large shrimp, raw
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp thai chili sauce sweet
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp green onion chopped

Instructions

  1. Steam shrimp by placing a steamer basket over simmering water
  2. For extra large shrimp it took about 10 minutes for them to steam - you will know the shrimp are cooked, but not overcooked when they are white and reddish-pink and curled into a C shape, be sure to remove the shrimp from heat before the tip and tail touch
  3. While steamed shrimp are cooling, combine mayo, chili sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar in a small bowl
  4. Allow the shrimp too cool completely
  5. If needed, remove tails from shrimp and chop the shrimp into small pieces
  6.  Mix the sauce with the chopped shrimp until completely combined
  7. Mix in the bread crumbs and green onion
  8. Place on a platter to serve and garnish with more green onion
  9. This dip is best served chilled. Serve with crackers or cucumber slices!
