  • 24 candy googly eyes
  • 12 mini Oreos, plus extra in case of breakage
  • 6 regular Oreos, plus extra in case of breakage

Instructions

  1. Frost the cupcakes: Pipe or spread a generous layer of frosting onto each chocolate cupcake.
  2. Prepare the bat wings: Gently twist apart 6 regular-sized Oreos and carefully scrape off the filling. Break each half into two equal pieces to create 12 "wings." Set aside.
  3. Make the bat faces: Dab two small dots of frosting onto each mini Oreo. Press a candy googly eye onto each dot of frosting. Let them set for a few minutes to ensure they stick.
  4. Affix the bat wings: Insert two Oreo "wings" into the frosting at the top of each cupcake so that they touch each other at the center, creating the look of spread wings.
  5. Assemble the bats: Place one mini Oreo with the googly eyes in front of the Oreo wings, centered between them, to create the bat's face.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Instructions: You can bake the cupcakes a day or two in advance and store them in an airtight container at room temperature. You can also make and store the Oreo wings and googly-eyed bat faces separately in advance, ensuring they’re ready for quick assembly later. For best results, wait until just before serving to assemble the bats so the cookies and decorations stay crisp and don’t absorb moisture from the frosting.
