BBQ Baked Beans with Bacon

BBQ Baked Beans with Bacon is a savory combination of pork and beans mixed with sautéed onions and bacon, enriched with mustard, brown sugar, and molasses. Slow baked in the oven, this hearty side dish offers a balanced smoky-sweet flavor and tender texture perfect for complementing grilled or comfort meals.

Description

This recipe begins by cooking diced bacon and chopped onions together until the bacon is cooked through but not crispy and the onions are translucent, which softens their sweetness. After draining excess fat, the bacon and onions combine with canned pork and beans, yellow mustard, brown sugar, and molasses to create a rich, tangy-sweet mixture.

Baking the beans covered at 350°F for about an hour allows flavors to meld and the beans to heat thoroughly without drying out. The resulting dish is tender with a glossy sauce that carries smoky, sweet, and tangy notes from the bacon and seasonings.

These baked beans can be served alongside grilled meats, barbecue dishes, or as a comforting side dish in a homestyle meal.
