BBQ Baked Salmon

BBQ Baked Salmon is prepared by coating salmon fillets with a paste of light brown sugar, Dijon mustard, chili powder, and oil, then baking or grilling them until tender and flaky. The topping of French fried onion strings adds a crispy texture and subtle sharpness that complements the sweet and tangy glaze. This method yields salmon with a balanced sweet-spicy crust and moist interior.

Description

This recipe for BBQ Baked Salmon starts by drying and seasoning salmon fillets with salt and pepper, then spreading a paste made from light brown sugar, Dijon mustard, vegetable oil, and chili powder. Cooking at 350 degrees in the oven or grilling over medium-high heat cooks the salmon through while allowing the topping to caramelize and develop flavor.

The result is a fillet with a tender, easily flaked interior beneath a flavorful layer that combines sweetness from the brown sugar and tanginess from the mustard, with a mild spice element. Adding French fried onion strings just before serving provides a crunchy contrast and an additional savory note.

This salmon is suitable for baked or grilled preparations and serves well as a main course alongside steamed vegetables or a light salad. Adjust cooking times slightly depending on fillet thickness to ensure doneness without drying.
