BBQ Meatballs

BBQ Meatballs combine store-bought or homemade meatballs with a tangy sauce made from cranberry sauce, cocktail sauce, brown sugar, water, and BBQ sauce. Slow cooking melds the flavors, resulting in tender, saucy meatballs that work well as appetizers or served over rice. The addition of finely chopped green onions adds a fresh finishing touch.

Description

BBQ Meatballs rely on pre-cooked or frozen meatballs simmered in a sweet and tangy sauce combining cranberry sauce, cocktail sauce, brown sugar, water, and BBQ sauce. The slow cooker method gently heats the meatballs over several hours, allowing them to absorb the flavors and stay juicy. The sauce has a balance of sweetness from the cranberry and brown sugar and a savory edge from the BBQ and cocktail sauces. Garnishing with chopped green onions adds freshness and color.

This dish can be served warm on its own as an appetizer or over rice for a simple meal. The sauce's balance makes the meatballs versatile for casual gatherings.

For best results, use pre-cooked frozen meatballs to avoid excess grease. If using fresh uncooked meatballs, sear them first. Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheated gently on the stove.
