BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders

BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders assemble thawed, sauced pulled pork on Hawaiian roll buns, lightly toasted and topped with a sweet and tangy red cabbage slaw. The slaw is made from shredded red cabbage dressed with fresh lime juice, honey, and kosher salt, providing a crisp contrast to the tender meat sliders. This combination offers handheld sandwiches with a balance of sweet, savory, and fresh flavors.

Description

BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders feature pre-cooked pulled pork heated before being layered on Hawaiian rolls cut in half. The rolls are baked briefly after assembly to slightly toast without browning, creating a soft but warm sandwich. The red cabbage slaw is made by shredding cabbage and marinating it in a dressing of fresh lime juice, honey, and kosher salt, which softens and flavors the cabbage while adding a bright, sweet note.

These sliders are served warm or at room temperature, making them convenient for gatherings or casual meals. The slaw adds texture and freshness to complement the rich barbecue pork. The recipe’s simplicity relies on quality pre-prepared pork and a fresh homemade slaw to balance the flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Servings

Sliders

  • 28 oz pulled pork thawed, Niman Ranch, with barbecue sauce
  • 24 hawaiian rolls
  • 2 tsp honey

Red Cabbage Slaw

  • 4 TBSP lime juice juice from two limes, fresh
  • 2 TBSP honey
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ red cabbage shredded, 3-4 cups, large

Instructions

Sliders

  1. Heat pulled pork via preferred method according to package directions.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Line 9x13 baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Cut Hawaiian rolls in half and place the bottoms of the rolls on the parchment paper.
  5. Spread the pulled pork evenly over the Hawaiian roll bottoms.
  6. Place the tops of the Hawaiian rolls back on top.
  7. Bake for 7-10 minutes until the rolls are slightly toasted but not browned.
  8. Remove tops and add slaw and drizzle of honey on top of pulled pork.
  9. Put the tops back on and serve pulled pork sliders warm or at room temperature.

Red Cabbage Slaw

  1. Combine the lime juice, honey, and salt in a large bowl and whisk until the honey and salt have dissolved into the lime juice.
  2. Add the shredded cabbage to the dressing and toss to coat. Make sure all of the cabbage has been covered in the dressing.
  3. Allow the cabbage to sit and marinate in the dressing for at least 20 minutes, but up to 24 hours. The longer time will allow the flavors to intensify.
