BBQ Sauce for Pulled Pork Recipe

This BBQ Sauce for Pulled Pork blends ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, molasses, and spices to create a rich, tangy, and slightly sweet sauce. It simmers gently to meld flavors and develop depth, including subtle smoky notes from liquid smoke. The sauce is thick and well-suited for coating shredded pork, enhancing its savory taste with balanced sweet and acidic elements. It can be used immediately or stored for later meals.

Description

The BBQ Sauce for Pulled Pork Recipe is designed by combining ketchup with apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, and molasses for a harmonious balance of sweet and tangy flavors. Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and onion powders, chili powder, and liquid smoke contribute layers of complexity, enhancing the rich, savory aspects common to pulled pork. The mixture is whisked and heated to a boil, then gently simmered uncovered to thicken and meld flavors without allowing the sauce to become too dense or lose brightness.

Once cooled, the thick, flavorful sauce can be used to coat pulled pork or as a dipping sauce, adding moistness and depth to the meat. The interplay of spices and sweeteners ensures the sauce complements the texture and smoky taste of slow-cooked pork. This sauce also stores well, making it convenient for batch preparations.

Instructions

  1. Whisk the ingredients in a small pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Bring the pot to a boil then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Prop the lid over the pot to prevent splatters but do not cover the pot completely.
