Beefaroni

This pasta dish takes me right back to my childhood when we'd eat cans of Beefaroni for lunch! Of course, our homemade version is so much better than the canned stuff - loaded with savory beef and tender pasta all in a simple tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups macaroni dry
  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 29 ounces tomato sauce canned
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions.
  2. While pasta is cooking, cook the ground beef and onion in a large pot, such as a dutch oven or deep skillet, over medium heat, crumbling the beef as it cooks.
  3. Once the meat is cooked through, drain off any excess grease.
  4. Season the beef and onions with chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
  5. Pour the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce over the beef and stir to combine.
  6. Drain the macaroni and stir into the meat mixture to coat the macaroni in the sauce.
  7. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper, to taste.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Not to be dramatic, but we're pretty obsessed with Barilla Protein+ Pasta. This isn't sponsored, just something that we love in our house. Tastes, cooks, and eats like regular pasta, but we feel a little better about serving it.
  • This recipe also works well with ground turkey.
