Beer Brat Bites
Description
Beer Brat Bites combine cooked bratwurst sausage with a sweet and tangy beer-based sauce. The sauce starts by boiling beer and brown sugar until reduced, then mustard is whisked in to smooth the mixture. Cornstarch mixed with cold water thickens the sauce further before the sliced brats are added to coat evenly. The bratwurst slices absorb some of the sweet and savory flavors, while the parsley adds a mild herbal note at the end.
The final dish offers a balance of savory sausage with a mildly sweet, mustard-forward sauce achieving a thick, glossy finish. The brat slices offer a satisfying meaty texture complemented by the syrupy coating. These bites are ideal as finger food, suitable for parties or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 package bratwurst sausage Johnsonville brand
- 1 ounce bottle beer
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water cold
Instructions
- Place the bratwurst sausages in the Sizzling Sausage Grill and cook until done.
- While the sausages are cooking, make the sauce. Place the beer and brown sugar in a pot over medium high heat; bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until mixture is reduced and thickened. Whisk in the mustard until smooth.
- Whisk the cornstarch with the cold water and pour into the beer mixture. Bring the beer to a boil and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until sauce is thick.
- Slice the sausages into 1 inch pieces and add them to the pot with the sauce; toss to coat. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
