Benihana Hibachi Steak Copycat
Description
This recipe uses a marinade combining soy sauce, Chinese cooking wine, sugar, garlic, ginger, and toasted sesame oil to infuse the steak with balanced salty and aromatic flavors. Marinating for at least one hour allows the beef to absorb these seasonings.
After marinating, the steak is cooked over medium-high heat, turning occasionally to sear each side and develop caramelization. Mushrooms are added near the end, absorbing the steak’s juices while cooking tender. Final seasoning with salt and pepper enhances the taste.
This dish can be served as a flavorful main course, highlighting marinated beef with mushrooms. The cooking method mimics the sizzle and sear of hibachi style, providing a suitable alternative for home cooks.
Using a large, hot flat-top griddle or cast iron skillet with high heat (450-500°F) enhances the authentic searing and caramelization. Applying salt generously just before serving brightens the flavors.
