Berry Infused Water
Description
Berry Infused Water is created by combining hulled and quartered strawberries, whole blueberries, and basil leaves lightly crushed to enhance their flavor. These ingredients are placed in a pitcher filled with water and left to infuse for two to six hours. The preparation allows the water to take on delicate fruit flavors and herbal notes from the basil, without overpowering sweetness. After the infusion period, the fruit is discarded to avoid off-flavors, and fresh berries are added for garnish. This drink serves as a pleasant, naturally flavored alternative to plain water, benefiting from the freshness of the selected fruits and herbs.
The recipe uses fresh, blemish-free fruit and emphasizes gentle handling of ingredients to maintain clarity in flavor. Using a glass pitcher is recommended to avoid residual tastes from plastic containers. The infusion time affects flavor strength; longer soaking leads to stronger taste but may introduce bitterness, especially if citrus or herb components are present. Serving chilled with fresh fruit added last preserves visual appeal and enhances the refreshing quality.
This beverage serves well as a hydrating option during warm days or as a subtle accompaniment to meals, providing a fruit-forward flavor with a hint of herbal complexity from basil. Its preparation makes it suitable for those looking to increase water intake with a mild, natural fruit essence.
