Best Burger Patty Recipe
Description
This recipe uses 80/20 ground beef divided into six evenly sized portions, each formed into round patties approximately 1 ½ inches thick. Creating a shallow indentation in the center of each patty helps prevent the meat from swelling or shrinking unevenly as it cooks, which promotes uniform thickness and better texture.
The patties are cooked using your preferred method, either grilling, baking, or pan-frying, then rested for five minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Resting also lets the patties firm up slightly for easier handling. Seasoning is applied after resting, allowing for controlled flavor balance.
The recipe includes toasting buns to complement the juicy, well-shaped patties, offering a traditional burger experience. The clear instructions and tips help achieve consistent burger texture and flavor, making it a reliable base for assembling classic hamburgers.
Ingredients
- 2 pound ground beef 80/20
- 6 Hamburger Bun toasted
Instructions
- Divide the meat into six portions, and form the patties with your hands or a burger press. (Mine were 1/3 lb. each and about 1 ½” thick.) Place the patties onto the prepared baking sheet.
- If you are using a finger or a spoon, create a well in the top of each burger. This will prevent the burger from shrinking up and bloating in the middle.
- Cook the burger patty as desired.
- After removing, allow to rest for 5 minutes and season as desired.
