Best Classic Chili Recipe

This Best Classic Chili Recipe combines lean ground beef with broth, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and a blend of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper for balanced seasoning. The chili simmers uncovered to thicken and develop depth, resulting in a hearty, richly spiced stew with tender meat and soft beans. It's ideal for a filling meal on its own or topped with cheese, sour cream, or fresh garnishes to add creaminess and freshness.

Description

Best Classic Chili Recipe features ground beef browned with diced onion, then simmered with broth, petite diced tomatoes, and kidney beans. Seasonings include chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, paprika, and pepper, which provide a layered yet balanced flavor. The chili cooks uncovered for 30 to 45 minutes, allowing it to thicken while melding the flavors. The combination of tender beef and soft beans creates a classic, hearty chili texture.

The chili can be served alone or topped with additional ingredients such as shredded cheddar cheese, sliced green onions, sour cream, avocado, jalapeños, or hot sauce, enhancing its richness and contrast. It pairs well with tortillas or saltine crackers to add crunch and soak up the sauce.

For adjustments, tomato sauce can replace diced tomatoes, and different kidney bean varieties can be used. A crockpot method is available, requiring browning the beef and then slow cooking the mixture for 3 to 4 hours on low. Broth can be substituted with water, and cayenne pepper can be added for extra spice.
