Best Classic Macaroni Salad Recipe
Description
The Best Classic Macaroni Salad Recipe features elbow macaroni cooked until just tender and cooled before combining with a variety of vegetables including celery, shredded carrot, peas, and chopped red onion. Ham or bacon and shredded sharp cheddar cheese provide savory and creamy components, while chopped hard-boiled eggs add texture and richness.
The creamy dressing is prepared by mixing mayonnaise with distilled vinegar, sugar, yellow mustard, sweet relish, salt, and black pepper. This dressing introduces a balance of tangy, sweet, and savory notes that brings the salad together with a smooth coating. After mixing the dressing with the pasta and ingredients, refrigerating the salad allows flavors to develop and meld nicely.
Typically served cold, this macaroni salad is suitable as a side dish for barbecues, picnics, or casual meals. The combination of diverse textures from crunchy vegetables and tender pasta alongside the creamy dressing creates a satisfying dish that complements grilled meats or sandwiches well.
