Best Cold Spinach Dip
Description
This dip preparation begins with thawed frozen spinach which is carefully squeezed to remove excess water to avoid a watery result. The spinach is combined with softened cream cheese, sour cream, and Ranch dressing mix, which provides seasoning and a savory tang. Mixing until creamy ensures a smooth base.
Chopped water chestnuts are folded in last, imparting a crisp bite that contrasts the creamy texture of the dip. The dip is then chilled to meld flavors and firm up slightly before serving.
This cold spinach dip is well suited as an appetizer or snack and pairs nicely with vegetable sticks, sliced French baguette, or crackers, making it versatile for social occasions and casual meals.
Ingredients
- 9 - 10 ounces spinach thawed, frozen
- (1) ounce pkg. cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 ounce Ranch dressing mix dry powder
- 8 ounces water chestnut chopped
Instructions
- Let spinach thaw or run it under hot water until thawed. The most important step is to remove as much moisture as possible from the spinach so you end up with creamy spinach dip instead of a watery one! I suggest putting your thawed spinach into a colander, set over a sink, and squeezing it with your hands several times, allowing the excess water to drain. If you want to make sure it is really drained, use a paper towel to soak up excess moisture.
- Place squeezed spinach into a mixing bowl. Add softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch powder. Mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer until creamy. Fold in drained, chopped water chestnuts.
- Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill until ready to serve.
Notes
- Ensure spinach is fully thawed and squeezed dry to remove moisture for a creamy dip rather than watery.
- Serve the dip chilled alongside vegetables, French baguette slices, or crackers for variety.
