Best Easy Air Fryer Turkey Tenderloin Recipe
Description
This recipe uses turkey tenderloins coated with olive or avocado oil and a mix of smoked paprika, garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. The seasoning blend imparts earthy and aromatic qualities complemented by smoky paprika and warm spices. After seasoning, the tenderloins are cooked in a preheated air fryer at 400°F, allowing the meat to cook evenly with a slightly crisp exterior from the air fryer’s heat.
Proper internal temperature (165°F) is emphasized to ensure safe consumption while preserving moisture. Resting the meat under foil for 5-10 minutes after cooking allows juices to redistribute. The method is adaptable for different sizes and shapes of tenderloins with suggested cooking times and covers alternative oven baking at 375°F for situations without an air fryer.
Storage advice includes refrigerating cooked meat in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freezing for up to 4 months. Reheating instructions using the air fryer are included to maintain texture and avoid drying.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Turkey tenderloin turkey tenderloins come in all shapes and sizes, aim for about ½-1 pound per tenderloin, not-preseasoned
- 2 teaspoons olive oil or avocado oil
Turkey Tenderloin Rub
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon rosemary dried
- ½ teaspoon thyme dried
- ½ teaspoon marjoram dried
- ½-1 teaspoon kosher salt if purchasing “pre-seasoned turkey tenderloins” do not add salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ⅛ cant nutmeg fresh ground is best, teaspoon
Instructions
- Remove the turkey tenderloins from the fridge about 30 minutes before air frying. Pat dry with paper towels and proceed with rub instructions.
- In a medium bowl, toss turkey tenderloins with oil.
- In another small bowl combine turkey rub ingredients and then sprinkle over tenderloins. Using your hands, rub the seasonings all over the tenderloins. If desired, at this point you may place the turkey tenderloins back in the fridge, covered for up to 24 hours to dry brine.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400° F (205° C) and lightly spritz the air fryer basket or tray with a little oil (not baking spray).
- Without crowding (doing in batches if necessary), place the turkey tenderloins in a single layer the air fryer and cook according to the below chart:
- Cook until internal temperature reaches 165° F using a good meat thermometer.
Suggested Cooking Times Based on Size of Turkey Tenderloins
- For small, thin turkey tenderloins (like mine, < ½ pound) air fry 5 minutes, flip and cook another 5 minutes.
- For medium turkey tenderloins (< ¾ pound), air fry for 7-10 minutes, flip and cook about 7 more minutes.
- Large turkey tenderloins 1 > pound each. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, flip and cook 10 more minutes.
- For all types, use an instant read meat thermometer and remove from air fryer when the turkey tenderloins reach 165° F internal temperature.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey reaches 165°F internally for safety.
- Rest cooked turkey tenderloins covered with foil for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Adjust air fryer cook time based on the size and thickness of turkey tenderloins.
- If turkey crisps too fast, loosely cover with foil to prevent burning.
- Oven baking at 375°F for 20-35 minutes is an alternative if no air fryer is available.
- Store leftover cooked turkey in an airtight container refrigerated up to 3 days or freeze up to 4 months.
- Reheat in air fryer at 360°F for about 8 minutes for best texture.
