Best Ever Funeral Potatoes

Best Ever Funeral Potatoes is a creamy, cheesy casserole combining diced frozen hash browns with sour cream, cream of chicken soup, sautéed onions, and cheddar cheese. Topped with buttered crushed corn flakes, it offers a crunchy crust contrasting the smooth, savory filling. This hearty baked dish is popular for comforting family meals and gatherings.

Description

This casserole starts with frozen diced hash browns mixed with sour cream, cream of chicken soup, sautéed onions, cheddar cheese, and seasonings, creating a rich and creamy base. The melted butter mixed into the hash browns enhances moisture and flavor. The mixture is placed in a buttered casserole dish.

A layer of crushed corn flakes tossed with melted butter is sprinkled on top, which crisps up in the oven to provide a crunchy textural contrast to the soft interior. Baking uncovered at 350°F for 40-45 minutes melds the flavors and develops a golden crust.

Served warm, this dish functions well as a hearty side or main for family meals or potlucks. Its comforting, creamy combination of potatoes, cheese, and onions with a crisp corn flake topping has earned it its name in traditional comfort food circles.
