Best Recipe for Ambrosia
Description
This Ambrosia recipe combines cool whip, milk, sour cream, and instant vanilla pudding powder to create a creamy base. Sweet shredded coconut and chopped nuts add chewiness and crunch. Mini marshmallows contribute softness and sweetness. Mixed with drained mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, and maraschino cherries, the salad achieves a vibrant, tropical fruit flavor balanced by the creamy components. Gently folding the fruit ensures it stays intact and evenly coated with the dressing.
Typically served chilled, ambrosia is a classic dessert salad often brought to gatherings or holiday meals for its sweet, refreshing character and variety of textures. The cool creaminess contrasts with juicy fruit and crunchy nuts, making it a well-rounded but indulgent option.
The recipe can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours. Adjust consistency by adding reserved pineapple juice if a thinner texture is preferred. Variations such as using pistachio pudding mix instead of vanilla are popular for different flavor profiles.
