Best Salsa Recipe (Easy Restaurant-Style)
Description
The Best Salsa Recipe combines fresh ingredients and canned fire-roasted tomatoes to create a vibrant, medium-chunk salsa. Garlic, onions, and jalapeno are processed first to a fine chop, allowing the underlying heat and aroma to infuse the salsa. Adding drained diced tomatoes, green chilies, fresh cilantro, lime juice, and salt completes the blend while preserving some texture through brief pulsing in a food processor.
The salsa’s slightly chunky consistency provides a fresh contrast to smooth salsas. It can be served immediately or stored in glass jars, maintaining flavor and freshness for later use. The lime juice and cilantro contribute brightness and herbal notes that balance the roasted tomato base and mild heat from the jalapeno.
Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 yellow onion roughly chopped
- 1 jalapeno pepper seeded and roughly chopped
- 2 ounce cans diced tomatoes drained, fire-roasted
- 1 ounce can green chilies
- 1/2 cup cilantro approx 1/2 a bunch, fresh
- 1/2 lime juiced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
Instructions
- Add the onion, garlic and jalapeno to the food processor first. These ingredients will be chopped finer if they're on the bottom.
- Then add the drained tomatoes, green chilies (no need to drain), cilantro, lime juice and salt.
- Pulse in one second increments. Keep pulsing until the salsa is well-blended, but still a little chunky.
- Season to taste with additional salt, or lime juice, if needed.
- Serve the salsa immediately or store it for later.
Notes
- This recipe yields about 4 cups of salsa, suitable for parties or gatherings.
- Store leftovers in glass jars to preserve freshness and flavor.
